One of the features of Old Rte. 66 in New Mexico (and before that, wagons and caravans) is “La Bajada” — or perhaps la subida, depending on your direction of travel. Sixty-six used to do a “back-up only” series of switchbacks down (up) the volcanic escarpment to which its name refers. These shots are atop of ‘La Bajada mesa, WSW of Santa Fe, on BLM/USFS land and roads (2-tracks).
